With its log cabin themed remodel of a 70's motor lodge by local architectural stars, Skylab, Doug Fir certainly runs the risk of being too slick and stylized. Still, no detail has been left to chance, and perhaps that's why it works. As far as a venue goes, they can't be beat. With almost every show under $15, and tuned-in booking that gets the moreWith its log cabin themed remodel of a 70's motor lodge by local architectural stars, Skylab, Doug Fir certainly runs the risk of being too slick and stylized. Still, no detail has been left to chance, and perhaps that's why it works. As far as a venue goes, they can't be beat. With almost every show under $15, and tuned-in booking that gets the bands on the cusp of wider exposure, you certainly get a lot of bang for your buck. If that all wasn't enough, the room is small enough that every show feels intimate, and the acoustics are incredible with the baffled ceilings and dampened walls. Hats off to the folks running the place, this may be the best venue in town.
